Hello there. Today I’d like to share a few lines about The trick to stop a new bobbin from slipping, something that has been going round in my head for weeks.
Tricks don’t replace technique — they complement it. Learn it right first; shortcuts later If you fancy, I’ll leave Trick.
Write down every trick that works for you. They are hours given back to yourself.
The trick¶
- Gently rub the winding area with beeswax.
- Alternative: a cloth with a touch of linseed oil.
- Third option (non-reversible): minimally sand with fine paper.
When it serves me¶
- On new or very smooth bobbins.
- When the thread slips while working and ruins tension.
Cautions¶
- Wax and oil don’t stain thread when applied lightly.
- Sanding requires experience: mark and test small first.
