One of the lovely things about this craft is that you never stop learning. How to make a homemade lace pillow for under €20 is one of those topics. Here is what I’ve gathered.
Before making your own gear, borrow some. That way you know what you really need If you fancy, I’ll leave DIY.
You don’t need to buy everything. Sometimes what’s at home is enough to start.
What you need¶
- 40×40 cm plywood board.
- Firm cotton cover.
- Filling: pressed straw, cork granules or fine sawdust.
- Thin string to close the cover.
Step by step¶
- Place filling on the board.
- Cover and tension until surface is hard.
- Sew or tie at the back with even tension.
- Test with your palm: if it bounces, you are good.
Result¶
- Service: two years or more with normal care.
- Limit bobbin weight to not sink the surface.
