Sometimes I think there is more to Trick: mark pairs with coloured thread to stay oriented than it seems. That’s why I sat down to write it out slowly.
Tricks don’t replace technique — they complement it. Learn it right first; shortcuts later If you fancy, I’ll leave Trick.
Write down every trick that works for you. They are hours given back to yourself.
The trick¶
- A small coloured thread (red or orange) tied to the outer-pair bobbin.
- In complex patterns, two different colours for key pairs.
When it serves me¶
- When working with more than 20 pairs.
- In mirror-symmetry patterns.
- In any piece with ground changes.
Cautions¶
- Don’t use bleeding threads: wash water transfers them.
- Remove the threads before final finishing.
